What is checklist management?
Last updated
Checklist management is the practice of creating, sharing, running and improving the checklists a team depends on. It covers keeping one current version of each checklist, giving each task an owner and a due date, seeing which checklists are in progress or overdue, and keeping a record of each completed one.
In more detail
For one person, a checklist on paper or in a note is enough. Once several people share the same checklists, the questions change: which version is current, who is doing each task, which checklists are late, and whether a step was really done. Checklist management is the answer to those questions.
It usually covers four things: one library of current templates, each checklist started from the latest version, every task with an owner and a due date, and a view of every checklist in progress, with a record of each one that is finished.
Example
An IT team runs a monthly maintenance checklist at several sites. Each site’s checklist starts on the same day from the same template, the team lead sees which sites are behind, and last month’s records are there when someone asks what was patched.
Checklist management in CheckFlow
CheckFlow is checklist management software: templates in a shared Library, checklists started by hand, on a schedule or through the API, tasks with owners and due dates, overdue alerts, and the Reports Grid showing every checklist in real time.
